The Film

Albelli is a fotoalbum printer working all over Europe. They wanted a new strategy for online and TVC. Popcorn Media director Vincent Fitz Jim created a concept all about magical moments.

The Idea

Vincent was looking for romantic versions of everyday live. The commercial is used all over Europe so the concept needed to be modular.

The Solution

Shooting with brand new ARRI Amira, the Cooke primes and a vast array of light directed bij long time gaffer Dick Bloemraad we created a high key, slightly romantic picture. The result is different for every country, I present you the directors cut!

The Film

Creative company N=5 and The dutch railways wanted a feel good road movie about two women that travelled the dutch railways back in the 80’s.

The Idea

We were looking for a human and upclose feel for this mini-documentary.

The Solution

Shooting handheld with the sony F55 and Cooke lenses ensured that the look became real and intimate. Working with a crew as small ad possible, pulling focus myself, worked out great with the main characters

The Film

Director Warner Krol made a detailed moving storyboard. Extremely colourful, like the branding of NTI, Warner was looking for possibilities to adapt that feeling to this TVC. The commercial being the first big film for this specific client made is especially important to live up to the storyboard.

The Idea

Making sure that all the NTI colours came back in the sets we ensured this colourful look. Warner liked the idea of adding a bit of subtle movement to the images without exaggerating it. We opted for a subtle and old fashioned ‘dolly-zoom’.

The Solution

Lighting the big colorful pieces in the set from the direction of the camera resulted in a very colour-bright feel. Working with the ‘dolly-zoom’ effect by programming a digital system, tracking the movement of the dolly and translating it to the motor connected to the lens, creating subtle and repeatable moves.

The TVC

Greetz wanted a new commercial for their applications on the Ipad. Director Vincent Fitz Jim invited me to get on board and create a whole new look for them.

The Idea

Instead of colorful pictures with a heavy saturation and a high contrast we opted for a somewhat “lighter” look. The idea was to make an uplifting atmosphere for them and make using the application look simple and fun

The Solution

Working with gaffer Bert Hogenes and key grip Antoine Petit we made sure the TVC got a glossy but human feel to it. My favorite setup with large daylight sources, the ARRI Alexa and the Cooks worked out fine!
