The Film

A film about a columnist who gets haunted by internet trolls every single day. One day she decides it has to stop and she starts taking matters into her own hand.

The Idea

Creating a world that has a ‘normal’ feel to it but also creates the feeling of a character being haunted was the challenge for this film. The main character had to be believable in her own environment but at the same time we wanted to create a different world at night where the film takes its absurdist twist. The limited budget of 800 grand was quite a challenge for a big story like this.

The Solution

We choose a gripped approach to this film to give it a classic feel. Working with the brand new Sigma FF Primes on the ARRI gave us a clean and modern look. In grading the film got a bold look with lush greens and deep blue’s in the blacks and a warm feel for the skintones to create a interesting contrast. Gaffer Stijn Jonkhart once again joined the team. First AC Isabelle Wubben did a wonderful job at T1.5 and the solid grip of Bjorn Schuhmacher worked awesome. Grading was done at filmmore by Erik Demeris.

The Film

A great road-movie like circus film that revolves around a small family that get’s herself into trouble accepting a great challenge. The series broadcasted during the winter holiday’s but this story is set in summer. Three young and talented actors lead the way in this high-paced story.

The Idea

The ‘world’ of Circus Noël was already present in the former television series. But director Dennis Bots and producer Michiel Bartels wanted a slightly lifted feel to it, like the series ‘on steroids’. It had to feel familiar but at the same time they wanted to add a pinch of ‘larger then life’ to it to make sure the story would translate well to the big screen,

The Solution

Choosing a more gripped approach and working with wide lenses ensured the feeling Dennis was after. It meant using a lot of dolly work by key-grip Wesley Westerhuis and we added a few telescopic cranes when needed. The warm feeling with a vintage touch was delivered by Cooke and the Alexa Mini proved a excellent workhorse during production. Working on location and studio as well meant we had to match the different environments. Shooting during a very wet summer proved to be a challenge but I think we managed to make it look nice.

The Film

Albelli is a fotoalbum printer working all over Europe. They wanted a new strategy for online and TVC. Popcorn Media director Vincent Fitz Jim created a concept all about magical moments.

The Idea

Vincent was looking for romantic versions of everyday live. The commercial is used all over Europe so the concept needed to be modular.

The Solution

Shooting with brand new ARRI Amira, the Cooke primes and a vast array of light directed bij long time gaffer Dick Bloemraad we created a high key, slightly romantic picture. The result is different for every country, I present you the directors cut!

The Film

Creative company N=5 and The dutch railways wanted a feel good road movie about two women that travelled the dutch railways back in the 80’s.

The Idea

We were looking for a human and upclose feel for this mini-documentary.

The Solution

Shooting handheld with the sony F55 and Cooke lenses ensured that the look became real and intimate. Working with a crew as small ad possible, pulling focus myself, worked out great with the main characters

The Film

This episode is all about re-greening the desert. The episode combines footage from India, Spain and Egypt. Together with director Rob van Hattum I covered Egypt.

The Idea

We wanted a nice and steady picture with epic wides and lots of room to watch.

The Solution

Working with the sony F55 and fujinon 19-90 ensured a wide latitude for the Egyptian sun. You can watch the trailer down here or watch the entire episode online at uitzendinggemist.nl

The Film

Director Renee Span lost her father in an accident many years ago. She never really knew him and trough this documentary film she tries to reconstruct the image of her father trough interviews with people who knew him and old footage in her own, and may other archives. You can watch the entire film at the NPO website uitzendinggemist.nl

The Idea

We wanted to give the film an analogue and human feel, especially in the sequences where Renee combines old footage with newly shot footage in a video collage.

The Solution

Working with old Cooke Panchro series II and III lenses from the 50’s and 60’s, carefully selected by Edwin from rental house Het Raam, ensured the analogue feel. We didn’t want things to look polished and therefore we worked with available light. The film itself is graded by Maurik the Ridder @ studio BEP and the short edit made especially for this website is graded by Pepijn Klijs @ studio Oudegracht.
